Deforestation and forest degradation are a reality in many countries. Natural and anthropic drivers generate continuous changes in the landscape, which lead to problems for communities. The difficulty is mostly to have accurate information on the extent and the reason for forest cover change. The countries cannot report valid information or implement suitable action to inverse the tendencies.
Arbonaut has developed a process on its ProMS platform, which includes remotes sensing and GIS data analyses and validation of the results with local data. The process has been developed in Uganda with the support of the UNDP Accelerator Lab and in collaboration with the National Forest Authority. It is now available for everyone.
